The dogs are personally cared for by Gary, Elena & Megan Lamberson as well as our kennel manager, Alonzo Campbell, who lives in an apartment here on
the farm. Click on each small image below and the on the right

Silversmith Farm Boarding Kennel, LLC is a small (16 indoor/outdoor
runs), private, upscale, unique, family
owned and operated kennel on Silversmith Farm, Johns Island, SC. It is located
15 min from Charleston on a 30 acre
farm,
protected by an electric gate. It is basically a small kennel in a doggy
park! We are open 365 days a year from 7:00 AM -
9:00 PM. We are open on all Holidays as well. Since we are not open
to the public, prospective clients are required to make an appointment
for a visit & tour so that they may become familiar with the services we offer.
Our kennel is unique - because it is a show kennel!
We want our show dogs to exercise and never feel anxious about being confined or
locked up. And, this is how our boarding clients are treated - like our
show dogs!
The kennel building is a charming little cottage
next to our home. We are likely the SMALLEST boarding kennel in the
Charleston area, which means the dogs get loads of personal
attention while they are here. But, this also means we fill up fast, so clients
must plan ahead! We do not board kitties.
Our doggy clients enjoy large, climate controlled indoor rooms
with their own covered outdoor porches-- PLUS, they are let out to run in large,
shaded fenced in areas 4 times a day! [6:30AM, NOON, 5:30 PM &
9:00PM]. This exercise and contact with
nature creates a feeling of contentment for our doggy clients. In fact,
some are so happy here - they don't want to go home! Our clients bark
with joy the minute their owners turn into our driveway -- the anticipation of
excitement!! They know they
will be pampered, comfortable and most of all, they will be played with and
loved while they are here on vacation. And, more importantly (in
their minds), they can see who is here, mark all the trees and bushes, dig and
roll in the exercise yards and bark
all they want!
PLAY
DAY CARE!
We offer Play Day Care on Tuesday, Wednesday &
Thursday. If your dog likes to play, we will find a compatible play group for
him/her. We let our compatible groups outside in large fenced in paddocks and
supervise their play four times a day. Some play groups go to the pond for
some great swimming and retrieving.
Here are some happy dogs during their swimming sessions or playing in the snow:

Long Term Boarding: We offer long term boarding (1 month or more) for owners who are building homes, moving or on extended
vacations. There is a reduced fee for monthly boarding (see
Fees &
Services page)
Day Care - a number of our clients work long hours and
don't have time to exercise their dogs during the week.
So they bring them over here for
us to play and exercise. Some are once a week and others come 2-3 days a week. Some
clients have us exercise their dogs all week days so they will be more
"laid back" on weekends while they are at home!
Out of Town Owners: Many vacationers use our facilities
when they are renting at Kiawah or Seabrook Islands (most rentals do not allow dogs) because
they can come see their dogs daily - some even come over and have a picnic lunch
and play with their dogs here on our grounds . Or, they come pick up their dogs,
take them to the beach for the day and bring them back in the evening.
We have a 5 acre, double fenced exercise area where obedient
dogs
can really go on leg stretching romps!

Our Mission

Elvis, Whicky & Beka
Nemo Skipper
& Sebastian
Our mission is to provide the very best boarding facility possible so
that our clients will be happy while away from home. We accomplish this by giving them lots
of individual attention, care and, of course, .....exercise!

Kennel Profile

The kennel was originally built in 1995 as a new show kennel for Silversmith Weimaraners
(est. 1978) by
Elena Smith Lamberson. In 1999, Elena retired from Medical University of South Carolina where
she served on the Faculty teaching and working in clinical microbiology. She then developed the
boarding facility from her existing show kennel building. Gary retired
from his law practice and loves dogs, so he is a great helper! There are 16
indoor rooms all connected to outside porches, which are covered and under shady
oak trees. There is a Family Room which, when we do not have a litter of
puppies, can be used for groups of 4-6 dogs in the same household with its
own covered porch and exercise yard. The kennel is air conditioned and
heated. We do basic grooming (bath, cream rinse,
brushing, ear cleaning). There is also a laundry room
where we wash towels, bedding, collars, and blankets. For photos of the kennel

The kennel is routinely cleaned three times a day - this includes mopping and
vacuuming inside rooms and cleaning/disinfecting outside porches.
Water buckets and food bowls are washed twice a day at meal time.
